A couple of things to share:

1)  A new Summer Lake Christmas Mother will be needed for this year.  I'm happy to help out and walk the person through the process but with Baby #2 coming in October, I can't coordinate it this year.  I can take over the role again in 2010 if someone doesn't want to continue with it.  It really is not a lot of work...just a lot of communication.  Organization skills are required.

2)  I've reserved the Clubhouse for scrapbooking on Friday, July 17 and all day on Saturday, July 18.  I'll open up the clubhouse around 3PM on Friday for cropping.  Participants can set-up and crop late into the evening.  When the last person drops,  I'll lock up the clubhouse and participants can leave their stuff there overnight to return to crop all day on Saturday (9AM). Participants can come for Friday and Saturday or a portion of both days but I hope that you are able to make it! Invite a friend or a neighbor.

Previous Events & Notices:

Social Committee Updates

This update has been a long time coming, and I hope it finds all of you well and anxiously awaiting spring! There is a lot to cover with Social Committee Updates so please make sure you read this thoroughly. There are several upcoming events and lots of opportunities to get involved, including some new events.

Unfortunately I have to start with some business news. After serving as Social Committee Chair for almost 2 years, I am sorry to say that I have to step down. My family and I are moving back to Colorado later this spring. I have really enjoyed getting to meet new people through this role and help plan some fantastic events. I encourage anyone new to the neighborhood, or someone who is looking for a new way to get involved to take on this role. I am checking to see if that means we need to hold elections this spring to elect a new chair. I know in the past, elections have taken place in the fall, so I will get back to you with the next step for filling this position. In the mean time, PLEASE consider yourself or someone you know who would be a great fit for our Social Committee!!!

EASTER
As of now, there is not an event planned for Easter this year. Unfortunately, with the way Spring Break falls and Easter coming at the end of Spring Break, it was tough to find a weekend that made since for an event.

CASINO NIGHT
Our dedicated group is hard at work planning our 3rd Annual Casino Night for Saturday, April 18th. Most of you should have received the evite and I hope you all can come. It has been one of our best events and I know everyone always has a great time. Please contact Diana Smith, Brenda Tarczynski, Beth Conner, or Lauren Birchmeier for more details.

EARTH DAY
Summer Lake Earth Day Clean-Up
Sunday April 19th, 2pm
Club House Parking Lot

Please join your Neighbors for a Summer Lake Trash Clean-Up armed with gloves and a garbage bag to collect
trash around the community.  Our goal is to keep Summer Lake beautiful and make this a safe place for the residents to
enjoy the outdoors along with showing the outside community our pride we have.  Scott Camp has committed
to the installation and maintence of two new permanent trash cans to be located at the Basketball and Tennis courts.

This can be an opportunity for kids to earn community service through their church, scout or school organizations.  If you have
a group that would like to earn their service merit, please invite them to come.  They only need some gloves and trash bags to join in!

Depending on the number of SL resident volunteers, people will be divided into teams (young  children taken into consideration) to cover high trash areas such as
the Basketball courts, Tennis courts, and main roadways.  The event would like to ask for anyone owning a pick-up truck that would like to assist with the collection
of trash bags to please call Annette Neff, 818-3170, neff26@verizon.net , we would greatly appreciate any help.

If you are unable to assist with the clean-up, trash-bag donations would be greatly appreciated.  Please drop them off at the sales office in the Club House prior to the event.

It only takes a few hours of time with many motivated volunteers to make Summer Lake a more beautiful place to live and play.  Please do join us!!

MEMORIAL DAY
Liz O'Shea has offered to organize a parade again this year. It is a festive and fun event that offers the kids chance to decorate thier bikes, wagons, strollers. We observe a moment of silence and then parade to the clubhouse in anticipation of pool opening. More information to come.

That is all that is on the calendar for now. I will get back to you as soon as possible regarding elections and filling the Chair position.
Thanks!!!
Molly
