Summer Lake maintains an extensive social calendar, with events and parties designed to keep kids and adults entertained. Memorial Day Weekend: May 27-29
Start with the pool opening parade, where your kids can show off their newly decorated bikes and then head off to enjoy popsicles, music, and festivities at Summer Lake’s beautiful aquatics center. On Memorial Day, we’ll have food trucks, shaved ice and other snacks, plus games and activities for kids all day.
Honeybee Festival: June 2, Noon – 4 pm
Visit the Rockwood Nature Center’s observation beehive, learn about backyard beekeeping, and enjoy honey-based treats! Music, arts & crafts, and refreshments for kids and adults.
Spring Run Huskies Fundraiser 5k: June 3, 10 am – 1 pm
Dust off those running shoes and come out for a great cause; your donations and registration fee will go to help offset the medical costs for the family of Carter Rose. Learn more here!
Float Night: June 16
Celebrate the last day of school by bringing your favorite floats to the pool and enjoying Hollywood Cheesesteak food truck offerings.
Metro Richmond Zoo Summer Summer Safari Camp: June – August
Campers get a behind-the-scenes look at the zoo, including hands-on contact with some of the Zoo’s furry residents! Arts and crafts activities, conversations about animals and conservation, and an in-depth tour are some of the features. Send lunch and pick the dates that work best for your schedule!
Painting Workshop: June 16, 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Sip a glass of wine at Midlothian’s Urban Farmhouse Café while A Toast to Canvas painting instructors teach you the finer points of watercolor on canvas.
Guardian Games Crossfit Competition: June 17, 7:00 am and August 26, 4:00 pm
Cheer on local crossfitters (or sign up to compete) and raise money for the Police Benevolent Fund at Midlothian’s Crossfit Pushin Weight.
Friday Cheers: June 23
Food trucks and music for the adults, a bounce house for the kids. This event is so great that it happens every weekend throughout the summer!
XL Sports World Richmond Summer Camp: July-August
Midlothian’s premiere indoor soccer and lacrosse facility has tons of options for kids and adults during the summer. Step up your skillset with birthday party options, camps, clinics, and summer leagues.
Summer Lake Party For Adults: July 22
Tonight is date night, so leave the kids with a sitter and walk down for a live band, ice luge, kegs, and dancing. Throw back a few and relax with your neighbors, this one is adults only!
Amelia Family Bluegrass Summer Festival: August 17-19
Nationally renowned bluegrass musicians converge on Amelia for three days. Bring a picnic or hit up the food vendors (and beer vendors!).
Southside Speedway Driver Meet & Greet Night: August 18, 7:30 pm
Check out local short-track racing, then high-five with the drivers! Snacks and drinks available for purchase at the track, and plenty for the kids to see and do.
Kindergarten Social: Date TBD
Bring your rising Kindergartener to meet his her new classmates! An ice cream social at the Summer Lake clubhouse is the perfect time to make new friends and reassure nervous parents before the first day of school.
